Production references for GOLF+

A short selection of work relevant to showing a game beyond the headset. Each example points to a production technique we could discuss; this is a reference page, not a proposed creative treatment.

Spatial Ops

Capture-led location trailer

Spatial Ops is a capture-led mixed reality reference: a spectator headset frames the player and game world together, alongside live action filmed on a cinema camera.

Camera position & access

A side view can show the golfer and portal together. From inside the portal, a spectator camera could look back into the room. A spectator view from behind the golfer would hide them because of game occlusion. Wider shots can use a stand-in headset; following the ball onto the virtual green needs a spectator view synced to gameplay.

More MR capture examples

Two small-crew examples of headset capture combined with filmed action.

One headset captured player POV; another served as the performer’s stand-in for selected wider shots.

For multiplayer shots, colocated headsets shared the ball’s position. We also filmed portal mode across real locations.

Home Sports

Location shoot + VFX

A live-action home scene with the game-world portal composited in—a technique we can deliver with our VFX collaborators. Some of us worked on Home Sports at Resolution Games; a separate production team made this trailer with Resolution’s internal team.

Angry Birds FPS — behind the scenes

For this Magic Leap game trailer, we filmed a GoPro POV from a headset-wearing mannequin, then keyed blue-screen gameplay into the shot. It gave us a clear view of play while staying faithful to the experience.

Racket Club

Studio + CG composite

This breakdown shows what a more controlled live action and gameplay composite can involve: a studio shoot, tracked camera movement, green screen and VFX.

Production context

That production had developer support and a dedicated branch of the Unity project. For GOLF+, we would first ask whether a PC or PCVR capture build, a spectator view, or only headset recording is currently available.

PRIVATE PRODUCTION REFERENCE

Pico

Earlier this year, we worked on a Pico video made for private viewing. It used green screen, motion control and photoreal CG home environments. A screening may be possible under NDA if this scale is relevant.

WORKING BUDGET RANGES · USD

Three production scales

These are planning figures, not a quote. The capture workflow and final brief will determine the right scope.

Capture-led location trailerHeadset gameplay and spectator footage combined with cinema-camera filming and a lean crew. Location and talent count can change the scope.$20K–$35K
Location shoot + VFXFilmed action with selected game-world elements composited into the shot, such as a portal. Tracking and VFX complexity drive cost.$30K–$55K
Studio + CG compositeGreen screen, programmable camera movement and more extensive CG environments. Crew, cast and environment count set the scope.FROM $65K

A technical capture test can be scoped separately. Deliverables, formats, location, talent, developer access and delivery date will shape the estimate.

TO SCOPE THE WORK

A few things to confirm

A more concrete brief will help us choose an approach and refine these budget ranges.

  • What, if anything, needs to be delivered in November, and by what date?
  • Is the brief for one hero trailer or a wider set of feature, behind-the-scenes and social videos?
  • Which formats and channels are needed, and what messaging or motion graphics must they carry?
  • How should filmed footage and POV or other gameplay capture work together?
  • What capture tools or builds are available today, and what developer support is possible?

We can then confirm capture feasibility, recommend a production scale and discuss how best to work together on the immediate production and any ongoing content needs.
